Watching the todays event in Oslo and on Utøya island, Norway unfold, we, the European Democrat Students, strongly condemn the attacks and murdering of our fellow Europeans. The use of violence, the bloodshed and the killing of innocent people is not a political tool but a crime.
Above all, we, being the largest political student organization in Europe and representing more than 1,6 million students, hope the Norwegian authorities will find the people responsible for the brutal gun shooting at our fellow students, members of the Workers' Youth League at the youth camp on Utøya island. The authors of this cruel event, which was, as Norwegian police stated, connected with the bombing in the capital, must be brought to justice.
We would like to express our sincere condolences with the families and friends of the casualties and to the whole Norwegian nation.
