2025 Wrapped: Unstoppable Momentum and New Horizons for European Youth

22.12.2025 20:39

As the curtains close on 2025, the European Democrat Students (EDS) family takes a moment to pause, reflect, and celebrate a year defined by action, growth, and unwavering commitment to our values. Under the leadership of Chairman Francesco Sismondini, EDS has reaffirmed its status as the strongest and oldest student political organization in Europe.

From the snowy streets of Sofia to the diplomatic halls of Brussels, 2025 was not just another year on the calendar, it was a statement.

A Year on the Move

Our mission to provide top-tier political education took us across the continent. We didn't just discuss policy; we experienced it on the ground:

  • Sofia (Winter University): We started the year strong, gathering over 70 delegates to tackle European security and local politics, engaging directly with leaders like Boyko Borisov.
  • Vienna & Bratislava (Study Mission): In May, we bridged nations and topics, exploring everything from UN global governance to Vienna’s renowned social housing model.
  • Genoa (Summer University): Under the Mediterranean sun, we dived deep into geopolitics, debating the Iran-Israel conflict and the future of AI with over 80 delegates.
  • Brussels (Skills Training): We focused on professional development, visiting tech giants like Microsoft and media hubs like Bloomberg to master AI regulation and political communication.
  • Podgorica (Council Meeting): We ended the year with a clear vision for EU enlargement, advocating for a Europe that stretches "from Lisbon to Luhansk".

Growing the Family & Amplifying Voices

This year, our network expanded significantly. We are proud to have welcomed four new member organizations into the EDS family: Jong Sociaal Contract (Netherlands), Mladi Evropa Sad (Montenegro), Nowa Generacja (Poland), and Slovenian Democratic Youth (Slovenia).

We also turned up the volume on our communication. With the launch of the EDS Podcast and three new issues of our flagship BullsEye magazine, we are driving the conversation on topics that matter to youth—from Erasmus+ to academic freedom.

2026: Ready for What’s Next

As we look toward 2026, we are more optimistic than ever. Our strategic roadmap is set, focusing on Housing Affordability, AI in Higher Education, and Youth Empowerment against far-right narratives.

We are already packing our bags for upcoming missions to the MENA Region, Zagreb, and a massive Summer University in Warsaw.

To all our members, alumni, and partners: Thank you for making 2025 unforgettable. We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year filled with peace, joy, and political impact!

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work: We couldn't have leveled up in 2025 without our political family! A massive thank you to the EPP and Konrad Adenauer Foundation for backing our mission, and to Erasmus+ for keeping us connected. Most importantly, huge shout-out to our member organizations, especially our hosts in Sofia, Genoa, and Podgorica. You are the energy behind EDS!

See you in 2026!
