Recap of EDS Council Meeting 2024 in Brussels

The EDS Council Meeting 2024, held from November 28 to December 1, brought together delegates from across Europe for a dynamic program in Brussels, Belgium. Hosted at the EPP HQ and European Committee of the Regions, the event featured thought-provoking panels, high-profile speakers, policy discussions, and cultural highlights, fostering collaboration and engagement among Europe's future leaders.

Day 1: Thursday, November 28

Delegates arrived at the Moxy Brussels City Center Hotel and gathered for the Opening Dinner, setting the tone for the weekend with a warm welcome and networking opportunities.

Day 2: Friday, November 29

The day began with a tour of the European Parliament, offering participants a unique insight into its workings. The program then moved to the Committee of the Regions for the official opening and a series of impactful panels:

  • Panel 1: Middle East - Featuring (online) Luigi Di Maio, the EU Special Representative for the Gulf region and former Italian Deputy Prime Minister.
  • Panel 2: Tech and Competitivity: How to Make Europe Ready for AI Challenges - Led by experts from OpenAI, Spotify, and EDS Chairman Francesco Sismondini.
  • Panel 3: In-depth Analysis of American Election Results and Their Global Implications - Delivered by political strategists Jerry Zagoritis and Paul Coyer.
  • The program then moved to the EDS Office where we held our Policy Working Groups

In the evening, participants experienced the festive atmosphere of the Brussels Christmas Market before enjoying dinner together at a Korean restaurant.

Day 3: Saturday, November 30

The day was dedicated to the official Council Meeting at the EPP Headquarters, where key discussions and decisions for the future of EDS took place, such as the updated Budget for 2024, Action Plan for 2025, Elections for Vice-Chair and many others topics. Following productive debates, some participants visited the House of European History, gaining a deeper appreciation for Europe's rich heritage.

Day 4: Sunday, December 1

The event concluded with a sightseeing tour of Brussels, allowing participants to explore the city's cultural and historical landmarks.

This Council Meeting provided a platform for meaningful dialogue and strengthened bonds among Europe's young leaders. Special thanks to the European Parliament for its support, making this event a resounding success.
