BRUSSELS – This week, the European Democrat Students (EDS) joined the broader EPP family in Brussels to mark a historic milestone: the 50th Anniversary of the European People’s Party (EPP). The visit was a powerful reminder of our shared heritage and a springboard for future cooperation among the party’s various associations.

Honoring Five Decades of European Leadership

The celebrations kicked off with the EPP Forum, a high-level gathering that brought together representatives from EPP’s member associations. Throughout the day, EDS delegates engaged in discussions focused on the evolution of the European project and the vital role our political family has played in shaping a free, united, and prosperous Europe over the last half-century.

The forum served as an excellent platform for EDS to strengthen its ties with partner organizations, ensuring that the voice of the next generation remains central to the EPP’s long-term vision.

3rd EDS Power Brunch: Insights from Ivan Štefanec

Following the anniversary celebrations, EDS kept the momentum going with the 3rd edition of the EDS Power Brunch, held this morning at the Commons Hub.

The highlight of the morning was an engaging session with Ivan Štefanec, Former Member of the European Parliament. Having served as a dedicated voice in the European Parliament, Mr. Štefanec shared his extensive experience regarding the inner workings of EU institutions and the importance of youth engagement in high-level politics.

During the brunch, members had the opportunity to:

  • Discuss the current challenges facing the European Union.
  • Gain first-hand career advice on navigating the Brussels political landscape.
  • Network with peers in an informal, high-energy setting.

Looking Ahead

"Celebrating 50 years of the EPP is not just about looking back at our achievements, but about preparing for the challenges of the next 50," said the EDS leadership. "From the gala floor to the boardroom of the Commons Hub, the energy of our members proves that the future of the EPP is in good hands."

EDS remains committed to providing its members with unique access to European leaders and fostering a space where students can contribute meaningfully to the European narrative.
